Air Jordan 34 Low Performance Review

If you ask me why I choose Air Jordan 34 Low，the reason is, I just like it.

Let’ s have a look at the comprehensive assessment of Air Jordan 34.

Suited Court: Indoor and outdoor court, but it’s better not to play basketball on the cement court.

Suited Players: defenders & frontline, the weight between 70kg-100kg

Suited foot type：all kinds of foot type

Advantages: Light, good air permeability, high cost performance, comfortable

「Vamp」

Comparing with AJ34, the first change of AJ34 Low is the material of forefoot vamp.

Although it increases the weight, but it’s worthy to make the change.

Comparing the ‘Cicada’s Wings ‘ reticulate pattern material, AJ34 Low uses leather. It improves the fitness.

The stiff TPU on the outboard of AJ34 is changed to leather. It improves the comfort level.

And it still uses reticulate pattern material on the vamp, so the air permeability is still good.

The lateral support of Air Jordan 34 low is the same as AJ34. Although the vamp is thin, but the supporting performance is good.

The second change is the height of shoe upper.

I always love the low type shoe, as it has good flexibility. The padding on both sides of ankle part is thick. It fits the foot very well. Moreover, it’s easy to put on and take off.

「Insole」

The insole configuration of Air Jordan 34 low is the same as Air Jordan 34. It has big ZOOM Air on the forefoot sole, Eclipse Plate on the midsole and hexagon ZOOM Air on the rear sole.

The configuration is the same, so the advantages and disadvantages of AJ34 Low and AJ34 is the same.

The feedback of big ZOOM Air cushion on forefoot sole is obvious. The starting speed is fast.

As the cushion of rear sole is close to the middle part of shoe heel, and Phylon is stiff in the beginning, so the cushion performance of rear sole is not good in the beginning. It needs time to break-in.

「Outsole」

The outsole of AJ34 Low still use XDR. The pattern is still herringbone. The traction performance is excellent on clean indoor wood floor court. But if the court has dust, it may slip.

Although it’s made of XDR, but we still don’t suggest you to play basketball on the cement court.

「Overall」

It balances the center of gravity well. It has obvious extension design on the outsole. And the TPU connects the insole, outsole and the vamp. So the stability and anti-rollover performance is excellent.

Overall, AJ34 Low has some improvements comparing AJ34, although it’s not obvious. The shoelaces of AJ34 has the risk to broken. For defenders, if you haven’t purchased AJ34, you can try AJ34 Low.

Air Jordan 34 Performance Review

I like Air Jordan 34. I worn it to play basketball games about 2 hours on the plastic field. My height is 175cm, and weight is 88kg. I want to share my performance review of Air Jordan 34 to you.

  1. Fit: Air Jordan 34 can fit the foot very well, it won’t press the foot like AJ33 SE. The strength of vamp is also good. The lining on shoe heel is also thick. The half-sole can also lock the foot well.
  2. Cushion Performance: AJ34 cancels the Flightspeed, so the half-sole is a little soft. But the air pressure is enough and it has good flexibility. The cushion performance is enough for my heavy weight. So I think that the cushion of forefoot is good, but I can’t feel the obvious feedback from hexagon ZOOM of rear sole.

Maybe due to my heavy weight and soft ZOOM, the starting speed of Air Jordan 34 is not fast, but not too slow. It’s better than KD9 and KD10. KD9 and KD10 are comfortable, but the starting speed is slow.

For starting speed, AJ33 SE>AJ32≥AJ29>AJ31=AJ34

AJ34 is good enough for defender and frontline who are not heavy weight. As the center of gravity is not high, it’s stable.

  1. For supporting performance and protection, AJ34 has make reinforcement to improve the supporting performance. The strength of Eclipse plate is also good. The green TPU can also offer enough support. AJ34 is stable, so the protection is not a problem.
  2. Weight: Although AJ34 hasn’t reduce the weight too much, but it’s already light enough for me. As it has a big piece of ZOOM Air on the half-sole and hexagon ZOOM on rear sole, and good supporting performance, so the weight is already not heavy for such configuration.
  3. Traction Performance and Abrasive Resistance:

The Abrasive Resistance of AJ34 is good, it’s much better than AJ33 and KD12. You can see below picture for wearing situation.

But the traction performance of AJ34 is not good enough, I slipped for a few times on the outer court, maybe the sole absorbs the dust. I will try on inner wood ground. I can’t give the review for the actual traction performance now. But I think it’s much better than the traction performance of AlphaDunk.

Overall:

The overall performance of AJ34 is good, but I think that it has some disadvantages. Firstly, the shoelaces of AJ34 is easy to loose. I don’t like the shoe lacing system. And the second one, I’m worried about the durability of vamp.

Detailed Look and Review: Air Jordan 34

I recently purchased Air Jordan 34. It’s really cool. Let’s have a closed look at it today.

Size: US9=EUR42.5

Unit Weight: 380g

Size：a little small, I suggest you to purchase half size bigger

The shoebox looks good.

The front side of shoebox is laser graven Roman numerals 34. The design is special.

The side of shoebox is Mose code, but it’s not 34, it’s 23.

The interesting part of the shoebox is the bilateral hollow out.

Unboxing: It’s really very cool. When seeing the picture of Air Jordan 34, I already love it.

In recent years, the appearance of most of basketball shoes are similar. But I haven’t found Air Jordan 34 has similar part as other basketball shoes.

No mater the appearance of Air Jordan 34 or the hollow out design of insole, I think it’s a pair of creative shoes.

The other important part of Air Jordan 34 is the technology. How to reduce the weight of shoes without reducing the performance? That should be the vamp.

Excepting the independent shoe heel and shoe tongue, the vamp doesn’t use leather and knit. It uses ‘cicada’s wings’ mesh ventilated material. It’s light and thin.

Except the ventilated material, it also uses other material to reinforce the shoe heel and the part rounding the shoelaces.

You can see that the shoe tongue also has the ventilated holes. It’s also helpful to reduce the weight.

But the hollow out of insole design is the most important part which reduce the weight.

The hollow out technology of insole is called Eclipse Plate. In the previous AJ series shoes, the highlight part is the FlightSpeed plate on insole. Eclipse Plate is the updated version of FlightSpeed.

From the official information, we can see that Eclipse Plate form a groove which can make the air cushion unit can compress and shape change without restrain. Actually, I’m interested in the Pebax material of Eclipse Plate.

The characteristic of Pebax material is the high strength. It has excellent feedback. And it’s also light. But the disadvantage is the high cost. If using Pebax as insole, the quality of sole is excellent.

The insole configuration of Air Jordan 24 also includes a big piece of Zoom Air, excepting Eclipse Plate. And the rear sole has a piece of hexagonal Zoom Air.

From the deconstructed draw of forefoot Zoom Air on the website, we can see that the Zoom area is almost the same as ZOOM Bag area of AlphaDunk. Although the performance of AlphaDunk is not very good, but it’s comfortable.

There is a piece of stiff plastic on the front part of forefoot and outside the air cushion to protect the air cushion. It can also improve the strength of the vamp. And we can see that there is a groove design which should be able to offer excellent anti-torsion performance.

Overall, the technology of Air Jordan 34 is great. And it’s creative. The outsole uses improved herringbone which improves the traction performance. I also like some details of AJ34, such as the Morse code on the front of shoe tongue, the Flyman logo on the shoe tongue, and「J4 – 34, 2.89-2019」 on the outsole etc. Anyway, I love it. Air Jordan XXXIV is my expected future basketball shoes.
